Our latest work has seen us get our ‘hands’ around the brand design for a new range of children’s cutlery.
The uniquely designed cutlery set aims to make mealtimes easier for young children and is now starting to make real waves in the children’s market; sharing the main prize at the Women With Bright Ideas Awards and has been shortlisted for The Gadget Show Live Innovation 2015.
Before all this, however, when Catherine and Rosie initially approached us, the product was only in its very early stages.
The initial work we carried out for them was a brand name generation and strapline. Having put forward a shortlist, they settled on Doddl, a name which combined the client’s surname (Dodd) with a word we associate with easy - doddle. We felt that its unique, playful spelling along with the strap line really helped to encapsulate what the cutlery was all about - making the process of eating at a young age simpler - but still allow for products to be added in the future.
The brand identity we created draws heavily on the tactile elements of the product, but remains something that will appeal to both children and the adults making the purchase. The vibrant green asterix, suggestive of a splat of food, stands out on the purple background and is in-keeping with the playfulness of the logo.
If initial reaction to the product is anything to go by, make sure you watch the space between your child’s hands, because before long, there could be a Doddl product there!
